I’m Heather Bowerman. I build at the intersection of healthcare and AI.

I’ve spent over a decade working in healthcare AI, from early startup teams to founding and leading a company. My experience spans model development, biostatistics, study design, and building the teams and operations needed to bring new ideas into practice. I also work across intellectual property, health economics, and investing.

My focus is on how AI can help us better understand conditions that uniquely or disproportionately affect women, especially where research and investment have lagged. In areas with limited data or prior research, that means asking useful questions, designing rigorous studies, and planning how biological samples and data should be collected. Understanding clinical workflows is equally important: the goal is to build products that can improve care.

My interest in this work began as a bioengineering student at UC Berkeley’s College of Engineering and continued as a graduate Nanotechnology Teaching Fellow at Harvard. My background also includes policy work at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
